In this article you will learn how to install WordPress in 2 minutes, regardless of your digital skills level. WordPress is the most popular website builder in the world. Almost 50% of websites worldwide are built with WordPress. It is easy to use by anyone and most courier and billing companies have modules that can be easily integrated into WordPress. See an article about arguments WordPress pros and cons.

In most cases, installing WordPress takes no more than 2 minutes. Below are 3 steps you need to follow to install WordPress quickly and without errors.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

In Romania, most hosting companies offer cPanel. To access your website's cPanel, you must log in to your account on the hosting company's website, or type dominiatura.ro/cpanel/. You should have the username and password in the emails you received from the hosting company.

After logging into cPanel, you should see the following image:

Depending on the hosting company, there may be different ways to install WordPress. The most popular is Softaculous. If you have Softaculous, it will appear as in the image below and you just have to click on one of the WordPress icons. If you don't have Softaculous, you need to look for the WordPress icon. The easiest way is to use the Ctrl+F command and search for the word WordPress. Depending on the version of cPanel, the graphical interface may differ slightly, but you should find WordPress somewhere.

If you found the WordPress icon, you just need to click on it and then click on Install or Install now.

Step 2: Setup installation

After you click install, a window opens where you need to set some things. There are 5 simple fields and it takes 1 minute to set them properly.

2.1. Software Setup

The most important thing is to set https. Depending on your preferences you can also put www, but at BRO Media we prefer to select only https, without www. The second important field is the domain name. Make sure it is the correct domain and you are not installing on another domain.

By default, the Directory field contains the letters "wp". Those are for installing WordPress in a specific folder. For example, if you leave the letters "wp" there, WordPress will be installed like dominiautau.ro/wp/. The link structure looks ugly and it is best to install it only on dominiautau.ro. To do this, you need to make sure that field is empty. The last field in the software settings is the version of WordPress you want to install. If you do not have any specific preferences, it is best to install the latest version of WordPress available.

2.2. Site Settings

In the site settings section, everything is very simple. You just need to set the site name and slogan. The two boxes should be unchecked.

2.3. Admin Account

For the admin account, you need to set the username and password for accessing WordPress. These are only used for WordPress access and have nothing to do with the cPanel or domain password. Make sure that the username is not admin, as this makes the site more vulnerable to cyber attacks.

The password must be strong and therefore must be different from the username or site name. As with most other sites, the password must contain at least 8 characters, one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one number and one special character. Try to create a password that has a score of 100 out of 100.

Admin email is the email that will be used for password recovery or for important emails related to the security of your site. By default, the email is admin@yourdomain.com and you should change it to avoid problems if you forget your password. All this data can be changed after you have installed WordPress.

2.4. Language and Plugins

It is important to choose the language of the site, the same as the language that the site content will be in. If you change your mind and want to change the language, you can do it after you have installed WordPress.

On the plugins side, our web design agency, recommends installing only Loginizer. This plugin is important for the security of your site. A security problem of sites on the WordPress platform is that they are vulnerable to brute force login attacks. This means that the robot can be set to try many combinations of usernames and passwords until the correct one is found. That is why I mentioned above that it is important that the user is not left as admin and must be changed to something personalized. The Loginizer plugin prevents attacks of this type by the fact that after 3 unsuccessful login attempts, a new attempt is blocked for a few minutes. If it is tried again after that, this plugin can completely block any login attempt. If you have this plugin installed, make sure you know the access password and you will not make a lot of attempts, because you risk being blocked for a very long time.

You don't change anything in Advanced Options and Select Theme. The theme can be chosen after installing WordPress.

Step 3: Installation

After you have filled in all the details, all that remains is to click Install. After you click install, it should take a few seconds for WordPress to be installed.

Depending on your hosting company, you may sometimes get an error saying that WordPress needs to install over a file with the same name that already exists on your site. Usually, that file is index.php and you need to check that you agree to install over it.

Now that you have installed WordPress on your domain, you will see a Hello World article appear. To access as an admin, you must go to the link dominiautau.ro/wp-admin/ and enter the username and password you set.

Recommendations after installation

While you are working on your site, it is recommended to have a maintenance mode plugin. With this plugin, you can see how the site looks, but those who are not logged in as an administrator will see a page with "Site under construction" or "Coming Soon". To install a module of this type, you need to go to
Dashboard->Plugins->Add New Plugin and search for "maintenance mode". You will find many results and you can choose the one you like the most.

It is advisable to install a module modern website construction, such as Elementor or WPBakery. The classic WordPress editor is quite limited in options, but it is easy to use for beginners.

This was a quick tutorial on how to install WordPress and it shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to implement all the steps.
