Keywords are the phrases that people type into Google when they are searching for a product or service. It is very important to identify those keywords if we want to have a website that performs well online. The purpose of keywords is to show search engines that you have relevant content for a particular search and for the user to receive the best result for their search.
Finding keywords is the most important thing when preparing text for a web page. It is not enough to think about how people would search for the product or service we offer, but we must do a little research before writing the first sentence on a website. Below we have prepared a list of free tools that can identify keywords relevant to our business.
Google helps us find information about anything. In this case we need keywords for our business and we turn to Google to help us. Let's assume you have a dental office in Brasov and you want to write the text for your website. If website creation is done by us, we help you for free with keyword identification, if not, you can identify them yourself by reading this article.
First, you search Google for the first few words that you think are relevant to your business. Let's say you think people would search for "dentist Brasov"After taking a look at the results on the first page, you can tell if it's a phrase that's used frequently or if it's a phrase that your competitors aren't considering. In this case 5 out of 10 results contain the word "dentist”, so it's worth considering. After you've seen the results, see what other searches Google suggests.
We see that people also use the expressions "dental office" and "dental clinic"It is good to write all these words on a sheet of paper and use them in your text on the site. We also see that in 2 of 8 results people also want to see the prices of services, because everyone wants to know if they can afford to get treated at your office. Consider creating a separate page where you have the prices of services and use the techniques in this article.
Another free tool is provided by our friend Neil Patel, who made it available to us. UbersuggestWith this tool you can check the volume of traffic that each keyword generates. You can only do 3 searches per day in the free version, but it is enough for what we need.
First, we look at the keywords "dentist Brasov" to see how popular this phrase is. Don't forget to select the country Romania to get local results.
We notice that it has 1000 searches per month, which is a good thing. We also see that the difficulty of the words is low and the cost per click is 5.4 RON. So far this is a good result, considering that the city of Brasov has a population of approximately 250,000 inhabitants.
We are also looking for the words "Brasov dental office" let's see if it has better results than the first one. This phrase is searched by 880 people per month and has about the same difficulty and cost as the first phrase. We also see other keywords suggested by Ubersuggest, but which have very low search volume. We notice that some searches are divided by neighborhood, so we can also consider SEO optimization for certain areas of the city.
The third and last expression that the free version allows us is "dentist Brasov"We notice the very low volume of searches and the suggestions that seem to be used only by dentists, not by patients who are looking for a doctor.
The conclusion after doing a few searches on Google and analyzing them with Ubersuggest, is that we continue with the phrase "dentist Brasov" because it is the most searched for by people who need a doctor. If you have a small practice and you are just starting out, try to include the name of the neighborhood/area where your practice is located in your keywords. Also use the phrase "dental office" about 2 times in the text, to cover that keyword a little.
If your site already has some organic traffic from Google, you can look into Google Search Console to see what phrases people used when they visited your site or what phrases your site appeared in. Given the competition in the field, there is little chance of you getting organic traffic, but if you have an older site, you may find some phrases that can help you.
Google Keyword Planner is another free tool that can help you find keywords.
Competitors are another source of keyword research. Go to the websites of the top 3 companies in your industry and see what keywords they are targeting and how often they are using them. Don't be afraid to compete with the best in the industry, because you will be surprised how quickly you can surpass them if you do things right. Remember that from number 1 you can only go down.
A study done by Ahrefs shows that 69% of searches use phrases with 4 or more words. This statistic is valid for searches with low monthly volume, such as local services or niche products. Don't be afraid to use long phrases.
Once you have identified your keywords, it is time to start using them in your website text. It is not enough to just throw them at random, using them as many times as possible and hoping to fool Google's algorithm. Keywords need to be placed in specific areas and most importantly, they need to be in context. Don't try to cheat. that Google understands phrases and realizes if you have made spelling mistakes just to use a certain keyword in context. It is important to have the keyword in the url structure. To have the keyword in the title is one of the most important things. Many people put text like “Welcome”, the brand name or worse, a motivational quote in the H1 title. From an optimization point of view it is important to use the keyword, even if your company name looks better in that place. Make sure you have inserted the keywords in the title and in meta title.
Use the chosen keywords in a subtitle as well. It is good to have the page structured in at least 3-4 subchapters. To check in WordPress what kind of subtitle you have, you have to click on any subtitle and an H will appear. H1 can only be used once on the page and under it there can only be H2s. Under H2s there can only be H3s and so on.
It is important to add keywords to the content on the site. Keywords must be in context and you should not abuse them. Once you are sure you have found the right keywords, start writing the text taking into account the structure above. When writing a text, try to make it as natural as possible, without trying to put keywords in a place where they shouldn't be.
If you have a new site, try to write as much text as possible. A quality text puts you ahead of those who also have a new site, but without an optimized text. With a long and quality text you will not surpass those in first place, but with 100 articles it is very possible. A blog page will help you enormously to increase your ranking in Google searches.
